Only ten? Now that feels like a virtually impossible task…but we’ve wrapped cold towels around our heads, drunk large amounts of perfectly brewed English tea and finally whittled everything that England has to offer down to a list that we are proud to call our ten favourite English holiday destinations!
As far as the English seaside is concerned there is just so much to choose from, but in our opinion Babbacombe, the Isle of Wight (and Shanklin in particular) along with Padstow are all hard to beat. They all offer visitors a fabulous range of attractions and things to do, set in gorgeous surroundings and offering the very best that the English seaside has to offer.
Further inland, the choices were equally difficult but in the end we had to pick, so we did! Durham and York were clear favourites in the north of the country, whilst Cambridge, Dorchester and those beautiful little Cotswold Villages also made it into our top ten along with the stunning Lake District.
Blenheim Palace was also marked out for special mention and so was the only stand-alone attraction to make our top ten, but for anyone that has visited this magnificent stately home and gardens, it is easy to understand why!
So that’s it…our top ten and, in all honesty, we could easily have compiled a top twenty, thirty or probably even fifty English favourites. This great country has such a variety of places to visit that you could spend many years taking all of your holidays in England and still never quite do it justice. So, no matter how many times you have taken a holiday or short break in England, now might be a great time to think about another one…and maybe even to one of our top ten?...
