New Peaky Blinders Tours for 2019
November 01, 2018/0 Comments/in Leisuretime News/by Leisuretime

Hey Leisuretimers! We've got an exciting new tour for 2019! Follow us into the underworld of the British urban youth gangs of the 1920s on our brand new Peaky Blinders Themed Tours.

We will visit the Black Country Museum - a fascinating day out that is a unique and memorable experience. Reflecting the lives of the people in the show and all who lived in those times, the twenty-six-acre area has a village and charismatic residents to chat with, trams to ride, games to play, things being made and stories to hear. A truly immersive experience.

The TV series is set in Birmingham but our tour also travels to the North West where some of the scenes were filmed. We visit the picturesque and unique village of Port Sunlight on the Wirral which was built by William Hesketh Lever as an idyllic model village for his “Sunlight Soap” workers. This is perhaps the best-kept secret in the region and with its distinctive styles created by 26 different architects to design the houses, it is truly a hidden gem! There is even a Beatles link here as it was the very first place that Ringo Star played with the Beatles in 1962. It is also the town where Hitler wanted his base in the U.K. if the Nazis had invaded and conquered Great Britain. The whole place is steeped in history and interesting stories. Your fun tour guide will bring the whole village to life and you will have free time to visit the Lady Lever Art Gallery and buy some refreshments and souvenirs.

There's also Arley Hall & Gardens, one of the most interesting and attractive stately homes in Great Britain. The elaborate ceilings & oak panelling, impressive fireplaces, intricate stained glass and beautiful contents are features which make Arley Hall so special, and a fantastic filming location that has been used in hundreds of productions including Coronation Street, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, The Forsythe Saga and most recently Peaky Blinders of course.

This three-day tour is travelling on 12th April, 24th May, 26th July and 20th September. We will be staying at the lovely Mercure Haydock Hotel situated between Liverpool and Manchester. Prices start at £189pp. Book your seat today and travel with Leisuretime on this amazing Peaky Blinders themed adventure!

Here's an interesting short video about the real-life Peaky Blinders!
