Leisuretime has been running great coach holidays for over 20 years, so you might think that there wouldn’t be too much new stuff for you to explore…but that is where you would be wrong!
For 2019, Leisuretime is offering dozens of new tours along with even more traditional favourites with refreshed and amended itineraries and inclusions that will entice even the most seasoned traveller.
For this article, we asked our customers which of our new tours really captured their imagination – and this is their Top 5 for Summer 2019!
For those looking to explore the islands of our wonderful United Kingdom, then we have two new holidays which seem to have really landed well…
Firstly, there is a fascinating tour to Jersey with a twist which tells some of the hidden stories of the occupation of this pretty island by the Nazis in World War 2. You’ll enjoy a tour of the Jersey War Tunnels with an expert guide, full wartime themed tour of the island and even a nighttime tour of some of Jersey’s wartime bunkers NOT normally open to the public!
In addition, you’ll go foraging for seaweed, shellfish and edible plants along St Ouen’s beach whilst all the time staying at the lovely Merton Hotel, one of Jersey’s best hotels which also boasts the most incredible leisure facilities on the island including a subtropical paradise of pools, waterfalls, fountains and slides!
Given the unique nature of this tour, there is only 1 departure scheduled for 2019 so you’ll have to be quick not to miss out!
Staying on the theme of British islands, Leisuretime is offering an extension to their popular holiday to St Ives on the 1st of July with a full day visit to the beautiful Isles of Scilly. One of the highlights will be the unique view of some of Cornwall’s most impressive coastline that you get from your ship as you cruise out towards the Isles of Scilly. A truly unique perspective that could be even further enhanced by the wildlife you might see en route…including dolphins, if you are very lucky!
The cruise takes you to the largest of the inhabited islands, St Mary’s, and includes a tour around the island with an expert local guide. There’ll be time for you to enjoy the fabulous views and local shops, bars and restaurants but make sure you don’t miss out on the local ice cream…it is deeeeeeelicious!
For those looking to travel north but sticking with an island theme, the new tour to Oban, the Isle of Bute and Mount Stuart in Scotland is proving to be a real winner.
Staying in Dunoon you have the best of both worlds as you enjoy the resort-feel of Dunoon combined with easy access to the west coast and its extraordinary sights. The Isle of Bute is one of Scotland’s most scenic islands whilst also being the ancestral home of the Bute family, a family with special links to Wales through the 3rd Marquess of Bute who also built Cardiff Castle. See if you can spot the similarities with Mount Stewart, the beautiful 19th-century manor house and gardens that he also built back in his native Scotland! This spectacular Gothic house is almost breath-taking in its beauty and surrounded by 300 acres of beautiful tended grounds and gardens.
This great new tour departs Wales on the 30th of September and includes accommodation and meals at the lovely Selborne Hotel, overlooking the beautiful waters of the Firth of Clyde.
If you’re looking to travel a somewhat shorter distance, then Leisuretime’s new long-weekend tour to the Peak District has departures on the 14th of June and 13th of September.
Taking in the rugged beauty of the Peak District National Park, one of the highlights has to be the pretty village of Bakewell, made famous by its delicious tart. Set on the banks of the river Wye, Bakewell never fails to enchant with its delightful buildings, the maze of historic lanes and alleys and welcoming locals. For those looking for a little entertainment to accompany their sightseeing, then there is even a leisurely cruise down the river Trent that includes a lively bingo session and tea. This tour really is a full house!
Finally, we were so pleased to see our new holiday in Spain on this list!
Staying in the lovely seaside resort of Roses on the Costa Brava and departing Wales on the 1st of July, you can enjoy some fabulous excursions whilst also relaxing in our comfortable hotel, only a short walk from the wide sandy beach and offering a sizeable outside pool, dance floor and many other amenities including regular entertainment for you to enjoy.
During your time in Spain, you will not only get the opportunity to visit Barcelona, one of the world’s most fascinating cities, but you will also get to see the birthplace of one of the world’s most famous artists, Salvador Dali. You’ll also visit Cadaques, a sleepy coastal fishing village that has attracted some of the greatest names of our time as residents or visitors including Marc Chagall, Henry Matisse and even Mick Jagger!
Priced at only £599 for 9 days including return coach travel, short sea crossings, overnight accommodation both ways and 7 days accommodation on half board in Spain PLUS all of those included excursions, it isn’t hard to see why this new holiday has made it into the Top 5. Ole!
