Scotland

A holiday to Scotland evokes images of swirling Scottish dancing, the Loch Ness Monster and stunning scenery. On a Leisuretime holiday to Scotland, you’ll get all this and more as we transport you to the land of Braveheart and some of the best whisky in the world!

A nation with a rich and proud history, Scotland’s links with the rest of the United Kingdom might at times have been tense but this beautiful country has always been a hugely popular destination for tourists, particularly from Wales.

Its iconic capital city, Edinburgh, has always been one of our most popular destinations. Dominated by imposing Edinburgh Castle and with a host of fabulous visitor attractions including the Royal Yacht Britannia, the royal palace at Holyroodhouse and a wealth of galleries, museums, shops, bars and great restaurants, Edinburgh is a fabulous place to start your Scottish odyssey. Indeed, its most famous annual event, the Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo attracts nearly a quarter of a million visitors every year to what is now a global festival of military pageantry.

Beyond Edinburgh, Scotland has a wonderfully rich heritage to explore combined with stunning scenery. Its many lochs have become iconic symbols of Scotland and whilst Loch Ness and its famous monster might be the most famous, the breathtaking scenery surrounding all of them means that every loch creates a lasting memory! Combined with Scotland’s rich history, including a deep association with the royal family, a tour out to one or more of its many regions is always a rich adventure, from the Trossachs, to Fort William, the Cairngorms, Stirling and those many stunning lochs.

But it is not just the history and scenery that will get your pulse racing! The hospitality is second to none, so make sure that you catch some traditional Scottish entertainment whilst you are there and try a Scottish fling or two yourself – all washed down with a wee dram or two of that delicious amber nectar for which Scotland is so famous, whisky. For the more adventurous, of course, there are also many opportunities to try the most famous dish to come out of Scotland…haggis!
