Situated 4 miles off England’s South Coast, the Isle of Wight is the UK’s holiday island. This diamond shaped island is a true gem and was one of Queen Victoria’s favourite spots. Over 60 miles of stunning coastal scenery and quaint villages will appeal to all ages and create lasting memories. Attractions are in plentiful supply on the island, with something to suit everyone. Get a taste of the Isle of Wight’s history and culture by visiting one of the Museums or historic sites. The most recognisable landmark is The Needles Rocks and Lighthouse. A visit to the Isle of Wight wouldn’t be complete without visiting some of its famous beaches and the island has the highest number of award-winning beaches in England.
Shanklin Beach Hotel
This classic seaside hotel is on the Esplanade directly across from the beach, and is a 6-minute walk from Shanklin Chine scenic gorge. Rooms are bright and modern, with en suite bathrooms, tea and coffeemaking facilities and TVs; some have sea views and balconies.
After joining the coach, we head towards our destination that will have coffee/lunch stops along the way. We expect to arrive at our hotel late afternoon.
Days 2 - 3
Traditional English breakfast followed by free time and included excursions. Dinner and entertainment at the hotel.
After breakfast we make our way home. After stopping for a coffee/lunch break, we continue homewards.
The Needles & Alum Bay
As soon as you think of the Isle of Wight the iconic image of the Needles springs to mind, the Islands' most famous landmark attraction which you will get to enjoy in conjunction with views over Alum Bay, best known for its multi-coloured sand cliffs and stunning views across the Solent. Some 60 million years ago movement in the bedrock caused underwater sediments to be pushed nearly vertical to form the multi-coloured cliffs that are visible today.
Sandown & Ryde
Sandown is a busy resort, flatter than Shanklin with a fine beach and all kinds of seaside resort attractions to keep you entertained.
The largest town on the Island, Ryde has fine Georgian and Victorian buildings, shops, tea-rooms, pubs, restaurants, and a marina. The sea-wall promenade provides a popular walk, passing the Victorian watchtower on the way to Puckpool Park.
