Ilfracombe’s reputation as the culinary and cultural centre of North Devon has been steadily growing for the past few years, with people now calling it the new St. Ives. The seaside town is home to renowned artist Damien Hirst’s famous 20m high sculpture, Verity, and a collection of local galleries featuring a mix of local and international artists. For creative entertainment, check out the programme at Ilfracombe’s Landmark Theatre, ranging from vintage festivals to internationally acclaimed music, drama and comedies.

This picturesque harbour town is steeped in maritime history and remains one of the key working fishing ports in North Devon, reflected in the local menus. Try the restaurants on ‘foodie’ Fore Street and around the Harbour menus featuring seasonal, local produce.

If you’re after family entertainment, discover the local underwater world at award-winning Ilfracombe Aquarium and maritime history at the unique Tunnels Beaches.
