This is a wonderful tour taking in some of the best that northern Spain has to offer.

Britain’s love affair with Spain started on the picturesque Costa Brava, our base for this great holiday. Made up of a dramatic coastline, hiding some superb sandy bays and coves, golden beaches, deep blue waters, pretty harbours and charming little towns and villages, this lovely part of Spain is a great holiday destination...it really is no wonder that we like it so much..!

We have packed in some fabulous excursions along with lots of free time for you to just relax and enjoy time exploring on your own. Our included excursion to Barcelona is always a firm favourite whilst the pretty villages of Figueres and Cadaques are full of charm and hidden surprises.

Our holiday base is the beachside resort of Roses, a charming old fishing village overlooking the Bay of Roses. The resort is relaxed and friendly, and has retained an historic ‘old town’ - picturesque by day, atmospheric during the evenings. Spend your days in the sun, around the hotel pool or on the beach, take a stroll along the delightful palm-lined promenade, or sit back in a café and take in the atmosphere... simply lovely...!!

Day 9

We depart our hotel after breakfast and head for the channel ports and our return crossing to the UK and home.

Figueres

Figueres is probably best known as the birthplace of Salvador Dali and home to the impressive Dali Museum, one of the most-visited Spanish museums. Not surprisingly, it is very popular with art-lovers, in particular. For others, Figueres offers great food, wine and beaches as you would expect from this Catalan gem, along with an historic Old Town and square, and even a castle!

Barcelona

Whilst often most famous for its football team, Barcelona is one of the most beautiful, vibrant and fascinating cities in Europe. Benefiting from its seaside Mediterranean location, Barcelona is a delight at every level. As the home of Catalan culture, the city has a very unique feel to it combined with some of most incredible architecture, galleries and museums in the world. Home to Dali, Gaudi, Picasso and Miro this is a city where culture comes with a capital ‘C’! For those more interested in sampling the local food and drink, Barcelona never disappoints. The city is dotted with tapas bars,, restaurants, bars and cafes all serving fabulous Spanish and Catalan specialities. Make sure you take a promenade down the famous ‘Las Ramblas’ at sunset and join the crowd checking themselves and each other out before sipping a cocktail or maybe a glass of Sangria under the setting sun! From soaring 14th century cathedrals and the shadowy Gothic quarter through to Gaudi’s famous Sagrada Familia, this is a city of imposing vistas and a heartfelt welcome and the only thing that is certain, is that you’ll want to come back for more!

Cadaques

The beautiful whitewashed fishing village of Cadaqués is sometimes referred to as an island on the coast, nestled as it is between the capes of Norfeu and Creus and flanked by mountains. The vilage has a distinctly bohemian-chic feel to it, and is known as a meeting point for artists, intellectuals and free spirits. One of its most famous attractions is the house of Salvador Dali who lived close by. Artists as diverse as Picasso, Mark Chagall, Marcel Duchamp, Henry Matisse and even Mick Jagger spent time in Cadaqués, There are lots of towns and villages dotted along the Costa Brava but few as charming or attractive as Cadaqués!
