Enjoy great excursions including a canal cruise and steam train ride

Join us on this lovely tour to Yorkshire, based at the popular Britannia Leeds Bradford Hotel. During this trip we will take you into the heart of Leeds to enjoy some free time exploring on your own. We will also take you out for a full day excursion exploring some of the best that this region has to offer. This will include a visit to Skipton on Market Day, a leisurely (and very amusing) canal cruise and a charming ride on the Embsay to Bolton Abbey Steam Railway.

Set on the south bank of the River Aire, Leeds is famous for many things including its football team but the most popular attraction for many visitors is the Royal Armouries, which houses the national collection of arms and artillery. Across the river, the redeveloped industrial area around Call Lane is famed for bars and live music venues under converted railway arches. For those looking for a bargain or to pick up some traditional local Yorkshire fayre, then Leeds Kirkgate Market could be for you, featuring hundreds of indoor and outdoor stalls. Whatever your interest, though, Leeds will provide you with a fascinating experience that will live long in the memory.

Skipton on Market Day & Canal Cruise

Skipton's award-winning Market (voted as the UK's Best Small Outdoor Market in 2017) plays a huge part in the life of this lovely town. Very few places of a similar size have as many regular market days as Skipton - and very few have a market located in the very heart of the town, on the High Street. There are no fixed stalls, so traders erect their own each morning on the cobbled areas along the High Street (known as "setts"), giving the entire event a very traditional and unique feel.

Skipton itself is widely regarded as the gateway to the magnificent Yorkshire Dales, with visitors travelling the length and breadth of the country to visit this charming market town. With its famous 900 year old castle, romantic ruined priory and historic cobbled High Street, Skipton is endlessly rich both in history and outstanding natural beauty. We know you're going to love it!

We then take you on what is sure to be an entertaining canal cruise, hosted by award-winning comedian Dave Spikey of Phoenix Nights and 8 Out of 10 Cats fame. With his characteristic Northern patter, Dave takes you on a whistle-stop tour of Skipton and shares canal history that’s refreshingly different from your average commentary. Above the jokes and laughter, you hear points of interest and fascinating stories of how the Leeds & Liverpool Canal delivered the lifeblood of the industrial revolution through Yorkshire. There’s food and drink on board, too, so it’s a fun twist on your lunchtime break.

Our lively canal trip proves you don’t have to let planning or nasty weather get in the way of a good time.
