The iconic palm trees could fool you into thinking you were in the Mediterranean. The coast of Torquay is scattered with beautiful piers and russet-red cliffs. Enjoy long leisurely walks along the promenade and take in the relaxed atmosphere. Make time to walk up the steps of Royal Terrace Gardens. Remember to take in the amazing sea views across the bay at night with the lights reflecting onto the sea. Add an Agatha Christie connection and steam trains and it all adds up to some grand days out beside the sea. Your tour to Torquay includes time to explore the lovely seaside town in your free time, plus a scenic drive to see the best of Torbay, and a half day visit to Exmouth on the outward journey.
The Riviera HotelThe Riviera Hotel is in the heart of Torquay is the perfect place to enjoy fabulous food, comfortable bedrooms, cabaret entertainment, superb indoor pool and friendly customer service, and it’s just a few minutes’ walk from Torquay’s award winning beaches, sparkling blue sea and all that Torquay has to offer. Day 1 After joining the coach at one of our local pick-up points we head to Exmouth for a half day. Re-join the coach and head on to Torquay for your first overnight stay, dinner and entertainment. Day 2 After breakfast you can enjoy free time in Torquay but don’t miss out the scenic drive of Torbay, stopping off at Babbacombe, Paignton and Brixham. Day 3 After breakfast we bid farewell and make our way home, with convenient stops along the way for coffee/lunch.
Exmouth (half day)Exmouth is one of the oldest and most picturesque seaside towns in Devon and a joy to visit at any time of the year. This relatively flat, vibrant town offers plenty of walking, a buzzing harbour as well as local shops and restaurants. The town is the gateway to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and has two miles of sandy beach for you to enjoy. Free Time in Torquay & Devon Cream Tea Torbay scenic drive (Babbacombe, Paignton, Brixham) & cream tea (half day) Babbacombe is a magical spot on the English Riviera, with great beaches and attractions including Babbacombe Downs, the highest clifftop promenade in England. From the top you can enjoy views of the spectacular South Devon coastline. Also at Babbacombe is the Cliff Railway, taking passengers down to Oddicombe Bay. The seaside resort of Paignton with its long stretch of beautiful and easily accessible beachfront, promenade, traditional pier and colourful beach huts offer one of the brightest jewels in the English Riviera’s crown. Life in the busy Devon fishing town of Brixham has always centred around the harbour, where heritage trawlers jostle for space with dayboats heading out to sea for the day’s catch, bringing it home daily to Brixham’s famous Fish Market. Here, in the heart of England’s Seafood Coast, the freshest fish and most delicious seafood is on the menu everywhere. Brixham is the quintessential English harbour, with a colourful and vibrant feel all year round, making it as ideal for a summer holiday with the kids as it is for a romantic winter break for two.
