Eastbourne has a charm unrivalled on the south coast, with dazzling floral displays, magnificent Carpet Gardens, a delightful Victorian pier and a famous bandstand. The resort boasts a fantastic beach, with eight miles of coastline sheltered by the South Downs, itself designated ‘An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’.

Day 1

Join your coach at one of our local pick up points and then head for the coast and Eastbourne! There will be convenient coffee/lunch stops en route and we intend arriving at our seafront hotel in the late afternoon. Once you have checked in, why not take a stroll along the promenade or have a pre-dinner drink in the hotel or one of the numerous pubs and bars around the hotel? Then enjoy a delicious dinner and the first night of great entertainment.

Days 2-4

Enjoy tasty traditional English breakfasts every day along with time to explore Eastbourne on your own. Make sure that you join us, though, for our INCLUDED excursions to Royal Tunbridge Wells, Herstmonceaux Castle and Rye. Relax in the hotel every evening with more great dinners and fabulous entertainment.

Day 5

After a final breakfast, it is sadly time to make our way home. After stopping for a coffee/lunch break, we continue homewards.

Royal Tunbridge Wells & the Bluebell Railway with cream tea

Royal Tunbridge Wells lies in the heart of the beautiful High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, an area thronged with picturesque towns and villages amid the rolling hills, ancient woods and open heaths. This historic spa town has welcomed visitors for over 400 years. Browse among the chic independent shops of the colonnaded Pantiles and the High Street, with busy cafes, bars, music and one-of-a-kind shops or enjoy a bite to eat or drink in one of the many fashionable bars or restaurants dotted throughout the town.

The Bluebell Railway is a heritage railway, running steam-hauled trains from Sheffield Park to East Grinstead in Sussex. It was one of the first preserved heritage lines in the country, resulting in one of the finest collections of vintage steam locomotives and carriages – many of which were preserved straight out of service from British Railways. Recreating trains from the 1880’s through to the 1960’s, Bluebell Railway is popular with film and television productions and our Horsted Keynes station has been seen regularly on television and in films, including Downton Abbey, Muppets Most Wanted and Churchill’s Secret. On our tour, we've also included a delicious cream tea to really make your visit an occasion to remember!

Herstmonceux Castle & Rye

Herstmonceux Castle
sits at the mouth of a small valley, facing the Pevensey Levels to the sea. The brick castle dates to the 15th century and the park and gardens of the castle are listed as Grade II. For some time the castle was used as the Royal Observatory, until the surrounding towns caused too much air and light pollution. There are still telescopes remaining at the site. Today Herstmonceux Castle is home to a university study centre and is open to visitors who want to enjoy the beautiful building and grounds.

The medieval and walled town and port of Rye is located on the coast, with twisting cobbled streets and lanes and some great old buildings, many of them timber framed. St Mary’s church has one of the oldest functioning church turret clocks in the country. You can see it up close by climbing the tower which also offers splendid views of Rye Bay.
