Situated 4 miles off England’s South Coast, the Isle of Wight is the UK’s holiday island. This diamond shaped island is a true gem and was one of Queen Victoria’s favourite spots. Over 60 miles of stunning coastal scenery and quaint villages will appeal to all ages and create lasting memories. Attractions are in plentiful supply on the island, with something to suit everyone. Get a taste of the Isle of Wight’s history and culture by visiting one of the Museums or historic sites. The most recognisable landmark is The Needles Rocks and Lighthouse. A visit to the Isle of Wight wouldn’t be complete without visiting some of its famous beaches and the island has the highest number of award-winning beaches in England.
Ocean View Located in Shanklin The Ocean View is set on the south-east coast of the island. Enjoy free WiFi in all public areas, all of which are comfortable and many boast wonderful views. Many of the bedrooms offer beautiful views, some with sea views and all include en suite facilities, TV and tea/coffee making facilities.
Day 1 After joining the coach from one of our convenient local pick up points, we head south and on to our short ferry crossing to the beautiful Isle of Wight. We expect to arrive at the lovely Ocean View Hotel in the late afternoon. Then, after you have checked in and unpacked, why not take a quick stroll or have a drink in the bar before a tasty dinner and some great in-house entertainment? Now you're starting to feel like you're on holiday... Days 2 - 3 Enjoy a hearty traditional English breakfast every morning along with free time to explore on your own. make sure you join us for our fabulous INCLUDED excursions to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway and Ryde and there will be free time to enjoy Shanklin. In the evenings, enjoy delicious dinners and more great entertainment at the hotel. Day 4 After a final breakfast it is sadly time make our way home. After stopping for a coffee/lunch break, we continue homewards.
Isle of Wight Steam Railway & Ryde Isle of Wight Steam Railway As a living, breathing, working museum, the Steam Railway is a popular and fascinating destination. Beautifully restored Victorian and Edwardian carriages, often hauled by 19th century locomotives, take visitors on a leisurely 10-mile journey through the island's unspoilt countryside. The largest town on the island, Ryde has fine Georgian and Victorian buildings, boutique shops, tea-rooms, pubs, restaurants, museums, galleries and a marina. The sea-wall promenade provides a popular walk, passing the Victorian watchtower on the way to Puckpool Park. You can also see the hovercraft coming over the water from Portsmouth.Free day in Shanklin Shanklin has everything you need for a great holiday. From the long wide sandy beach, perfect for bucket and spade days to the wooded ravine which is Shanklin Chine and the Old Village with its independent shops, restaurants and pubs, you won’t be short of something to do. Shanklin has all the charm of a proper seaside town and set against the dramatic sandstone cliffs, the beach is one of the most stunning walks to take on the island. You could rent a beach hut and watch the world go by or try your hand at the water sports on offer or have a paddle.
