The iconic palm trees could fool you into thinking you were in the Mediterranean. The coast of Torquay is scattered with beautiful piers and russet-red cliffs. Enjoy long leisurely walks along the promenade and take in the relaxed atmosphere. Make time to walk up the steps of Royal Terrace Gardens. Remember to take in the amazing sea views across the bay at night with the lights reflecting onto the sea. Add an Agatha Christie connection and steam trains and it all adds up to some grand days out beside the sea. Your tour to Torquay includes time to explore the lovely seaside town in your free time, plus we have included a drive along the coast to Exmouth, a cruise along the Jurassic Coast with cream tea on board, plus an excursion to Totnes and Dartmouth!
The Riviera HotelThe Riviera Hotel is in the heart of Torquay is the perfect place to enjoy fabulous food, comfortable bedrooms, cabaret entertainment, superb indoor pool and friendly customer service, and it’s just a few minutes’ walk from Torquay’s award winning beaches, sparkling blue sea and all that Torquay has to offer. The accommodation comprises 140 well-appointed bedrooms with digital flat screen TVs, hairdryers and tea & coffee making facilities. Guests can enjoy free entertainment to suit all ages on most evenings of the year, including bingo, quizzes, highly professional cabarets and dancing.
Day 1 After joining the coach at one of our convenient local pick-up points, we head for the south coast of England and the lovely seaside resort of Torquay with convenient coffee/tea stops en route. We expect to arrive at the Riviera Hotel in the late afternoon. Check-in, unpack and then maybe take a bracing stroll along the promenade before your first delicious dinner. Days 2-4 Enjoy a tasty traditional English breakfast every morning along with free time to explore Torquay on your own. In addition, make sure you join us on our fabulous INCLUDED cruise along the Jurassic coastline and our excursion to Totnes and Dartmouth. Return to the hotel every evening to enjoy tasty dinners and some great entertainment. Day 5 After a final breakfast, it is sadly time to make our way home. After stopping for a coffee/lunch break, we continue homewards.
Coastal drive to Exmouth + Jurassic coast cruise & cream tea (on board) We’ll drive along the coast to Exmouth. Exmouth is one of the oldest and most picturesque seaside towns in Devon and a joy to visit at any time of the year. This relatively flat, vibrant town offers plenty of walking, a buzzing harbour as well as local shops and restaurants. The town is the gateway to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and has two miles of sandy beach for you to enjoy. There’s no better way to see England’s only natural UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Jurassic Coast, than from the water. This circular cruise departs from Exmouth Marina and sails along the oldest section of the Site, known as the Triassic Era. Sit back and relax as you sail through time with the most stunning views of this 185-million-year-old geological portrait. This cruise is the perfect way for friends or groups to see this World Heritage Site from its best perspective, and you’ll be served cream tea on board! Totnes & Dartmouth Totnes is a charming Devon town with a bustling main street and a regular market situated in the beautiful Dart Valley. the town is surrounded by woodlands, grassy fields and riverside walks. It is built on a hill rising up from the Dart. The old warehouses on the wharf have been restored preserving the character of the place.Dartmouth You have to go a long way to find a town as pretty as Dartmouth. Overlooking one of the finest natural harbours in the UK, Dartmouth has a strong maritime heritage and is packed with narrow lanes, stairways and corridors, Medieval and Elizabethan streets. The town has fine restaurants, as well as arts, antiques and craft shops just about everywhere.
