Stay a beautiful hotel in the heart of St Ives and close to the beachFantastic excursions on this Cornish getaway! We stay at a super hotel, one of Newquay's top rated on TripAdvisor, which was once a vicarage. The current family transformed the vicarage into a beautiful, small hotel and we are lucky enough to be staying with them on this weekend break. We've also included great excursions to beautiful St Ives and the fascinating city of Truro.Newquay, one of the nation's favourite seaside towns, exudes the laid back atmosphere you would expect from a town perched on Cornwall's Atlantic cliffs and bordered by 7 miles of glorious golden sandy beaches. It's a place where all the family gets to relax and enjoy a proper holiday - toes in the sand, ice-cream in hand - or wrapped up warm in a cosy seafront cafe or pub! There's a different beach for every day of the week and glorious open spaces looking out to sea. The town manages to be both trendy and yet remains a great family resort - all wrapped up in the most fantastic coastal scenery.
Priory Lodge Hotel
Originally a vicarage, the Priory Lodge Hotel stands in its own grounds just a 2 minute walk into the town centre and a further 2 minutes to the closest local beach. The hotel offers free WiFi in all ground floor areas. The Olde Worlde bar is always a popular venue for a tipple or two and there is also a lovely restaurant with great sea views. The attractive lounge has a big screen TV and overlooks the pool (heated May to Sep) and the stunning Cornish coastline. For indoor leisure there is a sauna, solarium and a small games room with a pool table. Entertainment most evenings with plenty of fun for everyone.
Day 1 After joining the coach at one of our convenient local pick up points, we head for Cornwall and our beautiful base for this tour, Newquay. There will be convenient coffee/lunch stops en route and we expect to arrive in the late afternoon. Check in, unpack and then relax before dinner, followed by great entertainment. What a start! Days 2 - 3 Enjoy hearty traditional English breakfasts every day. Make sure you join us, though, for our INCLUDED excursions to Truro and St Ives. Return to the hotel every evening for more delicious dinners and festive entertainment. Day 4 After a final breakfast it is sadly time to say farewell as we make our way home. After stopping for a coffee/lunch break, we continue homewards.
St Ives St Ives is the proud winner of a showcase of national awards including best family holiday destination by Coast magazine and one of the 10 best European beach destinations compiled by TripAdvisor. It’s no wonder then that the town has been attracting artists for decades who come to capture the area’s undeniable natural beauty. It started with J M W Turner and the marine artist Henry Moore who first came to St Ives in the mid-1800s and since then the town has become a magnet for some of the world’s greatest painters, sculptors and ceramists.Truro (half day) Truro is a beautiful city, with its uniqueness lying very much in its history. In the 19th and 20th centuries Truro was a very busy port and prior to that it had attracted wealthy merchants and bankers, who built fine houses, turning Truro into a fashionable place. Enjoy the interesting mix of specialist shops and stores set amongst its quaint, cobbled streets.
