A visit to East Yorkshire just has to include the coastal city of Hull, UK City of Culture in 2017. Hull’s Old Quarter is a hidden treasure, with its cobbled High Street and reminders of the city’s past including Ye Olde White Hart where the English Civil War was allegedly plotted, the spot where Charles I was denied entry into Hull and the smallest window in England in the George Hotel. Hull also has a more modern side with attractions including the amazingly designed The Deep with its dramatic 'submarium' making it the deepest aquarium in Europe. The city offers a vibrant mix of culture and modern shopping with something to interest everyone. Take a stroll along the marina, amble through the eclectic museum quarter and visit Wilberforce House Museum, birthplace of the MP and antislavery crusader William Wilberforce.
