Coach holidays that don't cost the earth
Port Sunlight is a beautiful 'model' village and award-winning tourist attraction boasting wide boulevards lined with charming cottages, all built in an intriguing range of architectural styles. Built in 1888 by 'soap king' William Hesketh Lever for his workers at the nearby Sunlight Soap Factory, the Wirral village attracts around 300,000 visitors each year. With more than 2,000 residents, the village features a range of attractions including the award-winning Port Sunlight Museum and a recently-restored Edwardian workers’ cottage. Its Arts and Crafts cottages are surrounded by paths winding through fields and woodland. Port Sunlight Museum details the village’s history, and the neoclassical Lady Lever Art Gallery showcases 19th-century decorative arts. Tea rooms and cosy pubs await and you are sure to find this a fascinating experience of somewhere ahead of its time in Victorian England.
