The Elan Valley

The Elan Valley is just 3 miles from Rhayader on the southern edge of the Cambrian Mountains in Mid Wales. The Visitor Centre is operated by Dwr Cymru Welsh Water and is set in a fantastic location against a spectacular backdrop of a Victorian stone dam, where you can see an exhibition and an audio-visual show about the water scheme, area and wildlife. The valley covers an area over 72 square miles, making up 1% of the whole of Wales and is designated as an International Dark Sky Park. The area is famous for its spectacular dams and Victorian architecture and the large Visitor Centre is a great starting point for your visit to learn about this beautiful area.
